Born in Dublin, Ireland on December 16th 1966, Paul McGinley was an Accomplished Gaelic footballer who suffered a broken knee cap at the age of 19. As one sporting chapter closed another opened and Paul turned his attention to his other love,golf. Paul soon established himself as one of the finest amateur golfers in Ireland and Europe and completed his very successful amateur spell as a member of the British and IrishWalker Cup Team in 1991 before turning to the ProfessionalRanks on the European tour.
Paul has won four times on the European Tour including the 2005Volvo Masters at Valderamma, when Paul finished 3rd on the order of Merit. Paul has won the World Cup of Golf in 1997 with Padraig Harrington Paul will be synonymous with the Ryder Cup having played on 3 winning teams (2002, 2004 and 2006) and holding the winning putt at the Belfry in 2006.Paul has alwaysbeen passionate about the team format – a point that wasrecognised by his appointment as the 2014 Ryder Cup to be held at Gleneagles.Paul is a team player and this is reflected in his golf design work.
Joe has recently completed his 30th Year in Golf and Sports Turf Management and believes he has worked through the era of the most profound changes in both Golf Course design, maintenance and the entire Land Based Leisure Industry.
Joe joined the Staff of the Royal Dublin Golf Club in 1983 and in 1988 qualified from the National Botanic Gardens with a Diploma in Sports Turf Management, since then Joe has completed many educational programmes in both Europe and the U.S.A. In 1989 Joe joined St Anne’s Golf Club as Head Greenkeeper and worked tirelessly to improve this fine Link’s Golf Course on the North Bull Island, Dublin. From 1992- to Present Day, Joe has been Golf Course Superintendent & Honorary Secretary at Hollystown Golf Club in North Dublin. This 27- Hole Facility is one of the busiest Courses in Ireland.
Joe served as a Member of the Board of Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of Ireland, G.C.S.A.I from 1989 to 2009. From 1993 to the Present Day Joe has served on several Committees of the Golfing Union of Ireland (G.U.I.)
In 1998 Joe was elected to the Board of Federation of European Golf Greenkeepers Associations, F.E.G.G.A. and enjoyed working with the 19 Member Associations in this unique project. In 2000 Joe was appointed Chairman of FEGGA, completing his second term in January 2005
Joe is as project coordinator for Paul McGinley Golf Design. Joe worked on the team that developed Macreddin Golf Club in County Wicklow in 2005- 2007. Joe is presently working for Paul on the renovations at Achimota Golf Club, Quinta North and Portsalon Golf Club.
Joe is married to Allison and is a proud father to Katie (6) and Laura (4). Joe lives in Dublin City, Ireland.
